The Dead Sea is famous for its extremely high salt concentration. Its water contains far more dissolved salts than ordinary seawater. Because of this, the density of the Dead Sea is much higher than that of most natural bodies of water. Just like in the floating egg experiment, this increased density produces a much stronger buoyant force.
When people enter the Dead Sea, they are pushed upward by the water so strongly that swimming becomes almost unnecessary. Even lying still on the surface is easy, as the water supports the body’s weight. Movements feel unusual because the dense water resists motion more than normal water does.
This phenomenon follows exactly the same physical rule demonstrated by the egg in saltwater. The object has not changed, but the fluid has. The Dead Sea shows that physical laws do not depend on scale. The same principles apply in a small glass at home and in a massive natural environment. Understanding density helps explain why certain objects float, why ships can carry enormous loads, and why some places on Earth feel almost weightless in water.
